Ed Federmeyer does it again

Another very good new book on Luxemburg is Eisenbahnen in Luxemburg Band 1 by Ed Federmeyer who emerged the last two decades or so as the most important writer on historical railway subjects in his fascinating country.

Here he did a very good job again and bigger too. His present project comes in three volumes, the first one being out now. It contains lots of historical pictures, documents and drawings to study. Most all of the photographs are very interesting indeed and many were not published before. Together with the text in German they explain in great detail what happened and more so why.

Part 1 covers the general history of standard gauge railways and all of its lines plus the main station of Luxemburg city 1859-2006. Part 2 will describe motive power and passenger coaches including types from abroad to be found in Luxemburg at any time as well as industrial locomotives. Part 3 will finally deal with freight stock.
